The developer behind PsiloSybil describes it as “the most ruthless indie linear 3D platformer ever made,” and after spending an hour dying nearly 100 times in the opening stages that make up the game’s demo, I’m convinced they’re probably right.PsiloSybil is heavily inspired by Crash Bandicoot – if the tunnel-like stage design and PS1 aesthetics didn’t give it away, the opening cutscene’s references to “Aussie Rat” and the Crash-coded “marsupial” skin for the main character probably will. The game’s gorgeous in its psychedelic ’90s way, complete with wonky textures and a perfect recreation of analog video signals – which is, of course, optional if you hate fun.The game’s been in early access for some time and has developed a solid fandom over that time – more than 100 90% positive Steam reviews is nothing to sneeze at for a game of this scope. Alongside the 1.0 release, developer bad_vertex tweeted that this is “the most ruthless indie linear 3D platformer ever made,” and while you might think that’s hyperbole it seems the branding is well-earned.

Silent Hill 2 Remake has been out for only a day, and there are already four pages worth of mods over on NexusMods. Although I wouldn’t recommend using any of them on your first playthrough, my favorites are the ones that let you swap out protagonist James Sutherland for heroes from GTA San Andreas, Nier Automata, and Resident Evil 4 Remake. This was, of course, inevitable. The best Resident Evil 2 Remake mods over the years include everything from the infamous Thomas the Tank Mr. X to the manifestation of the fabled Resident Evil 2 Akuma Mode after 26 years. It’s only fair that Silent Hill 2 Remake gets the same treatment, although we’ve yet to reach the levels of absurdity we inevitably will.My favorite ‘character’ mods so far include one that turns you into CJ from GTA San Andreas, another that lets you play as Resident Evil 4 Remake hero Leon Kennedy, and another that swaps James Sutherland for 2B from Nier Automata. We’ve seen these exact mods in other games, including Resident Evil 2 Remake, but hey, they’re classics for a reason, right?Where do we go from here? Well, Thomas the Tank as Pyramid Head seems like a safe bet, and while we’re on the topic of GTA, Big Smoke too. We …

Metaphor: ReFantazio marks a big departure for its veteran developers. Rather than layering supernatural elements underneath a modern setting we’re all familiar with – as is the case in Persona and Shin Megami Tensei – developer Atlus is creating an entirely new high fantasy world, but the team quickly realized it didn’t need to be so strict about sticking to medieval traditions. “When considering what a medieval world needs, what the components of that setting are, we reach the conclusion that we actually didn’t need to be so strict about this and that,” director Katsura Hashino said in an interview with Gamer Braves. “The more important thing was about telling the story of Metaphor: ReFantazio.”Hashino elaborates that the team initially sweated the small details, and had several discussions around things like, “how much glass should there be in the town, considering if it’s medieval times, glass would have been a precious commodity.” But, ultimately, the fantasy genre opens the door to practically anything being possible, so Atlus developers settled on creating a world that’s best suited to host its narrative, rather than one that’s realistically depicting a historical…

Like many tennis fans, I waited what felt like an eternity for a new Top Spin game, and at many points, I was sure we’d never get one. You can imagine my surprise when Top Spin 2K25 suddenly launched earlier in the year. While it isn’t everything I was hoping for as a sequel to maybe the best tennis game ever made, its current price ahead of Prime Day is more than worth it.Down from its launch price of $69.99 which I bought it for, Amazon is running a discount ahead of its big Prime Day sale that slices it down to $38.89. Personally, I’m a bit miffed at how limited its roster is compared to some other tennis games on the market these days, but its gameplay feels superior by far, and that’s why I’d happily recommend it for this kind of price. From the price history data I’m seeing, Top Spin 2K25’s cost has been slowly falling since launch, and besides a very brief stint in August when it bounced down to $29, this is the lowest it’s been. With more content being added by the developers, this Prime Day PS5 deal presents a good time to grab a racket and hit the virtual courts.Top Spin 2K25 | $69.99 $38.89 at Amazon

Halo Infinite is getting a fanmade mode that has much in common with Helldivers 2 – it’s also called Helljumpers, if you had any reservations about where the inspiration came from – and it has me itching for the dream ODST spin-off that was never greenlit. For context, a former Halo developer revealed that series developer 343 Industries apparently shot down several spin-off pitches, including one ODST game that very much resembled this year’s biggest shooter Helldivers 2. Rather than simply yearning for what could have been, a team of superforgers got to work on an unofficial version themselves.Made in Halo Infinite’s Forge – the toolset that lets players create custom maps and modes ranging from Pokemon clones to mini MOBAs – Helljumpers sees four spartans drop down onto a wide open map to complete a series of objectives, all while waves of alien bad guys descend from above. The Forge mode now has a new trailer linked below and an October 25 release date.

Ubisoft has acknowledged reports of the company potentially being bought out and going private, but hasn’t confirmed either way whether it’s actually going to happen.Last week, it was reported by Bloomberg that the Guillemot brothers (Ubisoft’s founders) and Chinese technology company Tencent are considering options to stabilize and boost the value of Ubisoft, and one of those options would reportedly see a team-up to take the company private. It’s claimed that alternatives are being considered, too, and that the discussion is still in its early stages, but Ubisoft has now responded to the reports. In a statement sent to VGC, a Ubisoft spokesperson acknowledges “recent press speculation regarding potential interests around the Company,” and somewhat vaguely says: “It regularly reviews all its strategic options in the interest of stakeholders and will inform the market if and when appropriate.” Beyond that, it’s reiterated that Ubisoft’s management is focused on “executing its strategy” centered around the “core verticals” of games as a service-native experiences, as well as open world adventures. So then, it’s not a ‘no,’ but it’s certainly not a ‘yes’ either. To be fair, if wh…

Silent Hill 2’s director is “very happy” that the new remake is bringing his horror classic to an entirely different generation. Masashi Tsuboyama led the original game with the sadly-shuttered Team Silent all the way back in 2001, and he’s now chimed in on what remakers Bloober Team have achieved in 2024.”I think the value of the remake is that a new generation can play it” Tsuboyama tweeted earlier this week right as glowing Silent Hill 2 Remake reviews began to flood the internet. “As a creator, I’m very happy about it. It’s been 23 years! Even if you don’t know the original, you can just enjoy the remake as it is. Whether it’s good or bad doesn’t affect the original.”🟥I think the value of the remake is that a new generation can play it. As a creator, I’m very happy about it. It’s been 23 years! Knowing how to start the Vessel of Hatred expansion in Diablo 4 means you can get straight into the new content, and there’s plenty to discover as you explore the fresh location of Nahantu while getting to grips with the brand new character class. However, you can’t just start up Diablo 4 and jump straight into it, as the seasonal progress system means you need to activate the correct campaign, and if you overlook the option then you could find yourself repeating the base storyline all over again. To avoid that situation, here’s how to start the Vessel of Hatred campaign in Diablo 4.How to start Vessel of Hatred in Diablo 4 More Diablo 4 guidesDiablo 4 Realmwalkers

The Silent Hill 2 Remake bug room code is something you’re likely trying to work out in a panic as insects besiege you from every angle. The keypad combination is actually random across each playthrough of the Silent Hill 2 Remake – there’s no specific answer across the board, but you can narrow it down to a specific set of numbers and then run through all the various possible combinations until you find out the code for the bug room. Silent Hill 2 Remake Director’s Office SafeThe code to the bug room in Silent Hill 2 is (at least on normal puzzle difficulty), some random combination of the numbers 2,3 and 9. You can work this out because when you examine the keypad, those numbers are clean – implying that previous use has worn the blood off them. In that sense, this puzzle makes a little more sense than the Silent Hill 2 Remake rings puzzle back in the hospital before this, though there’s a catch.Namely, there really doesn’t seem to be any way to narrow down the answer beyond that,…
