Terminator: Survivors may have been delayed to 2025, but that hasn’t stopped me from quietly hoping that Nacon is able to deliver something special here. The studio is putting forward an original story set between Judgment Day and the rise of John Connor’s resistance movement, an open world survival game where you’ll join forces with other humans to scavenge resources and betray each other once the machines show up. With single-player and co-operative modes available, Terminator Survivors is quickly becoming one of my most anticipated upcoming PC games for 2025. Nacon is also working hard at a PS5 and Xbox Series X version, but is looking towards a Steam Early Access release first – giving the community a chance to stress test the resource management and base-building elements. While we wait for more info, keep reading to find everything we know about Terminator Survivors so far. Terminator: Survivors release date The Terminator Survivors release date has been delayed to 2025. Developer Nacon Studio Milan was originally set to launch into Steam Early Access on October 24, 2024, but was pushed back so that the development team has the time to “build a post-apocalypt…

Operating income rose by 33 percent year-over-year to 65.2 billon yen ($442.5 million).

Ups and downs for Sony software sales

Shipyard Games, a Finnish developer best known for the mobile game Go City, has quietly closed after a seven-year run.Per PocketGamer, the studio had previously disclosed the news back in May through its Discord. At the time, co-founder/CEO Andreas Wedenberg called it a "critical" situation, saying the company had run out of money and that its current investor had ended support. The investor, Supercell, put a $2.9 million minority stake into the Helsinki developer back in 2017. At the time, Shipyard had only been a few months old, and it's unclear when or why Supercell put its wallet away.Shipyard's most recent (and final) release was Wizards & Kingdoms Go, which Wedenberg acknowledged really only had "1-2 weeks" worth of content in its early state. With the studio gone, the game will receive no more updates and eventually go offline."We sincerely appreciate so much all of your help. […] We are very sorry we could not finish the game you all deserve," he concluded, "but unfortunately often dreams need money to become true, and we ran out of it."…

Valve has rolled out a new update for Steam that bumps up the size requirements for banner images. The changes were made to help developers "show off their game in the best light," particularly on high-res monitors and the Steam Deck OLED.The OLED was further cited as the first place where the new size would be most noticeable, as the smaller sizes stood out on the updated handheld.Under the new template, assets for the Steam store (small, header, main, and vertical capsules) and library (header) will doubled in size. New high-resolution asset usage will roll out over the next few months, while the previous sizes lose support on November 1.Until that date, Valve is accepting asset uploads with the previous size to avoid "disrupting developers that are in the process of building and shipping games."For previous releases, developers aren't required to update graphical assets with the new size. Past capsules will remain supported even after November 1.Valve has already posted the latest asset templates, along with a detailed overview of the new specifications.…

Balatro creator LocalThunk is determined to make sure his smash hit deckbuilder never falls into the wrong hands. So much so that he's put his life on it.On Twitter, the developer revealed he recently wrote into his will that the game can "never be sold or licensed to any gambling company/casino." In recent months, he had been approached with potential license deals which presumably to "reimplement the original mechanics as a gambling game itself."But despite its use of poker cards, Balatro has nothing to do with gambling. In March, it was delisted in non-US regions due to concerns that it would influence young players to gamble. LocalThunk and publisher PlayStack refuted this during the ratings process.Even so, Balatro has become one of the biggest indie successes of the year. It recently surpassed two million copies, and will get its first major update in 2025."Thank you all for helping us reach this absurd milestone," wrote
LocalThunk. "I’m so grateful that this weird game has been such a hit and allowed the Playstack team and I to do what we do!"Earlier in the summer, he revealed an early prototype of Balatro, along with some …

According to Android Central, developer Ready at Dawn is no more. The elimination of the studio was reportedly made to keep the equally struggling Reality Labs within new budget restraints. A Meta representative also told the outlet these cuts were not heralding a larger culling for its first-party studios.Ready at Dawn was founded in 2003 by Naughty Dog and Blizzard Entertainment alums Ru Weerasuriya, Andrea Pessino, and Didier Malenfant. Somewhat fittingly, the studio's debut title was Daxter, a PlayStation Portable spinoff for Naughty Dog's platformer series. In the first half of its lifetime, the studio created PSP spinoffs (and collected bundles) for Sony Santa Monica's God of War franchise, and the Nintendo Wii port for Okami. In 2015, it launched its own original project: PlayStation 4's The Order: 1886.After the console multiplayer brawler Deformers in 2017, Ready at Dawn pivoted to VR. Within that same year, it simultaneously released the adventure games Echo Arena and Lone Echo for the Meta Quest and Oculus Rift.Oculus Studios acquired the studio in 2020, where it made Echo Combat and Lone Echo II. Last year, it and fellow developer Downpour Interactive …
