None other than OpenAI, the generative AI firm behind ChatGPT and Dall-E.Coates initially shared the news on X, and slammed OpenAI's practice of scraping websites for information that can be used to train its models. The company isn't shy about this. Its website openly states its large language models are trained on three sources including "information that is publicly available on the internet." Developer Night School Studio, which was purchased by Netflix in 2021, shared the news in an email sent to Itch.io users whose library includes the 2016 adventure game. Merge Games cut staff over the weekend, and closed down its single office based in Chelford, England.The studio is part of Maximum Entertainment, and in a statement to GamesIndustry, CEO Christina Seelye explained the cuts were part of its previously announced consolidation plans. After a year of laying off developers, Behaviour Interactive is bringing some new ones into the fold. The Dead by Daylight developer/publisher announced today that it is acquiring Red Hook Studios, the company behind Darkest Dungeon and Darkest Dungeon II.It's incredibly rare for a game studio to announce an acquisition like this so soon after a year of layoffs and studio closures. Roblox parent company Roblox Corporation shared some fascinating news today at Roblox Developers Conference. The company announced that developers making "paid access experiences" (think premium games) on Roblox will soon be able to earn a higher revenue share than developers making free-to-play games.This increase applies to games that are purchased with "real currency value" on desktop. If you make a game priced at $9.99, $29.99, or $49.99, your revenue share will respectively rise to 50 percent, 60 percent, and 70 percent.The company says it has plans to expand the increase to "other supported devices" in the future.The announcement is packed in the middle of a slew of other economic updates, including an upcoming partnership with Shopify and a new creator affiliate program that will reward Roblox developers that bring new users to the platform. What’s neat about Metaphor, though, is that you can whack and insta-kill them if you’re appropriately strong. No fuss, no fight loads, just a modest helping of experience points.Now, that’s not totally new to JRPGs and is an evolution of what we’ve seen in Persona – Ryuji could insta-flatten weak Shadows in Persona 5, and spooking fiends in Persona 3 Reload before fighting them gave you an advantage.
