There’s a double-edged sword that comes with legendary games, and it’s how impossible it can be to replicate that success. Both Silent Hill 2 and Resident Evil 2 represent stellar entries in the Resident Evil timeline and the best Silent Hill games respectively, and for that reason, they’ve become time-tested titans of the genre. That’s why Capcom took a gamble when it decided to remake its most famous game ever. Thankfully, when Resident Evil 2 Remake landed in 2019, it pretty much wrote the book on how to remake one of the best survival horror games of all time. It’s all about a fine balance of innovation, homage, and evolution – and with Silent Hill 2 Remake now launching to similar acclaim, it demonstrates how both Konami and Capcom went about the act in two different ways. You don’t even need to play the games in full to see what I’m talking about. The evidence can be found in the first half hour of each.Worlds apart “Up there with the Resident Evil remakes” Silent Hill 2 Remake review: “An atmospheric and rewarding horror game”Resident Evil 2 is flat-out iconic. Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield’s first foray onto our consoles was atmospheric and creepy enough back in 1…

The FC 25 Total Rush tracker is underway, although sadly these new cards don’t upgrade dynamically. There’s still reason to get involved with the latest EA FC 25 campaign, however – such as a Kylian Mbappe card that’ll earn you 8 million coins if you’re fortunate enough to pack one. Oh, and the small matter of new items for Kevin De Bruyne, Antoine Griezmann and Cristiano Ronaldo. Scroll on for all the October promo details, and the full FC 25 Total Rush tracker. What is the FC 25 Total Rush promo? FC 25 Total Rush is a giant celebration of the series’ new five-a-side Rush mode, although its cards aren’t only to be used in that match type. They’re just as effective in Division Rivals or the Weekend League. The campaign launched on Friday, October 11 to replace FC 25 RTTK (Road To The Knockouts). While that promo featured items that upgrade based on real-life performances, there are sadly no dynamic FC 25 Total Rush cards. But there are still plenty of OP players such as Kylian Mbappe and Aurelien Tchouameni to be snapped up as part of it.Who is in FC 25 Total Rush Team 1? FC 25 Total Rush Team 1 is headlined – as mentioned twic…

Original RuneScape creator Andrew Gower will make his return to MMOs with Brighter Shores, a new game now confirmed to be launching in Steam early access on November 6 following a closed beta that starts October 22. The base game will be free, with a premium pass available for purchase. Brighter Shores has more than a bit of RuneScape in it – rather, both games have a lot of Gower in them – right down to the isometric perspective, life skills like fishing and woodcutting, and a generally freewheeling adventure vibe. You start as a humble guard in the town of Hopeport in the fantasy world of Adothria, and soon break into the wider world. For his new game, Gower leaned into a tabletop RPG aesthetic with point-and-click interactions, and moved away from tick-based mechanics, giving Brighter Shores a smoother look. It also features more MMO-like combat classes than the likes of Old School RuneScape: Cryoknight, Guardian, and Hammermage. When Gower first revealed the game earlier this year, it was billed as an anti-grind MMO that stands opposed to “the onslaught of microtransactions in modern MMOs.” A press release revealing the release date again specifies “No mic…

Bethesda Game Studios studio design director Emil Pagliarulo has commented on some of the negative feedback to Starfield’s Shattered Space DLC.Starfield’s first story expansion launched last week to 42% positive “mixed” reviews on Steam, and it’s since dropped to just 30% positive reviews, earning it a “mostly negative” rating at the time of writing. Our own Starfield Shattered Space review awarded the expansion 3/5 stars and praised “some memorable side quests” while noting an at-times “lackluster” main questline and lack of follow-through on promised horror elements.Pagliarulo posted a lengthy Twitter thread in direct response to a fan who perceived his recent comments in an interview with GamesRadar+ as a “pat on the back” that “may not be warranted.””Optimism and excitement are pretty standard for interviews,” Pagliarulo said. “And I’m generally pretty optimistic and excitable (about games) by nature. That said, my optimism is in no way meant to be mud in the eye of any dissatisfied fan. That’s not how it works.”Pagliarulo affirmed that he’s “very proud” of the expansion and that “most of the quests and levels” were developed by BGS veterans “going all the way back to Morrowind…

Halo Infinite is getting a fanmade mode that has much in common with Helldivers 2 – it’s also called Helljumpers, if you had any reservations about where the inspiration came from – and it has me itching for the dream ODST spin-off that was never greenlit. For context, a former Halo developer revealed that series developer 343 Industries apparently shot down several spin-off pitches, including one ODST game that very much resembled this year’s biggest shooter Helldivers 2. Rather than simply yearning for what could have been, a team of superforgers got to work on an unofficial version themselves.Made in Halo Infinite’s Forge – the toolset that lets players create custom maps and modes ranging from Pokemon clones to mini MOBAs – Helljumpers sees four spartans drop down onto a wide open map to complete a series of objectives, all while waves of alien bad guys descend from above. The Forge mode now has a new trailer linked below and an October 25 release date.

FromSoftware spent years making its biggest game world ever in Elden Ring’s Lands Between, and now one fan of this massive open-world RPG spent roughly 500 hours making a tinier, still-massive, low-poly version of it. And man, it is cool. Reddit user and Github creator Honzaap shared their creation with the Elden Ring subreddit over the weekend, and it quickly caught fire among the community. Intrigued by the scale of this thing, flummoxed by their claim that it took 500 hours to make, and oddly nostalgic for a similar “Tiny Elden Ring” previously shared on Sketchfab by Konstantin Chemelev, I reached out to Honzaap to talk through this tiny giant. Before that, you can tour the low-poly Lands Between for yourself here. Toggle the camera in the bottom right to get up close and personal. The Lands Between made in low-poly style from r/EldenringI was delighted to learn that I was right on the money: Honzaap says they were inspired by Chemelev’s Tiny Elden Ring to begin with. “I just had to see what it would look like with the whole map,” they tell GamesRadar+.”I will admit that Konstantin’s model looks much better, I am not that great with low-poly style.” “I though…
